Edgewood Publishing Co. in Philadelphia was a subscription publishing company in the late 1800s and early 1900s. This is a saleman's sample of one of their books, the History of the Johnstown (PA) Flood of MAy 31, 1889. Obviously, Edgewod got thier book out quckly. The sample has a notice in the front that the illustations are not the ones that will appear in the finished book, as they were made in haste and are sunsatisfactory. IN the back are the forms showing customers names and location. This book was used by a salesman in the Simsbury, CT area and has two pages of subsribers' names. Conditon is VG with some wear to the corners and edges of the cloth boards and a little pulling of one or two of the sewn signatures. ; B&W Photographs; Small 8vo 7" - 8" tall; 108 + photos pages
