Before his movie career, Orson Welles went to art school, and while in St. Tropez, France in 1956 turned to his paints to capture scenes from the Les Bravades festival. He then gave the portfolio of pictures to his daughter Rebecca for Christmas in 1956. He used watercolors, crayons, ink and gouache on a variety of papers, and described the scenes he depicted. The book was made public in 1996, with Rebecca's permission. It is a charming and sentimental gift. The book is as new, the dust jacket would be as well except for a 1/4" closed tear on the lower front. There is a very informative Afterword by Welles's biographer Simon Callow. ; 4to 11" - 13" tall; Unpaginated pages; Paintings and drawings; 4to 11" - 13" tall; non paginated pages
