California: Pioneer Ranches, Inc, 1958-1960. Collection of eight promotional items and envelopes from Ranch Development Corporation, aka Pioneer Ranches. A real estate company, Ranch Development Corp, specialized in purchasing large properties and reselling them in smaller parcels. In the mid 1950s the firm began using an obscure legal loophole to attempt to gain ownership of National Forest lands throughout California including areas that now comprise Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. The land grab resulted in a Congressional Hearing and revisions to California State law. Envelope is heavily soiled, all other items in Fine condition.
