1982, Privately Printed Wesley Crosby Ellis, Mobile, Alabama, Navy Blue and Black Cloth Hardcover, 463 pages, 9 1/4" tall, small scuff on cover. Gabriel Richard Ellis (1845-1925) of Mobile, who joined the Confederate Army at the age of 16 and experienced brutal conditions at Elmira prison camp, later became a Methodist minister and toured the Holy Land in 1904. He married Alvira Elizabeth Davis, with whom he had four children. She died at the age of 26 in 1881. In 1882, Ellis married Cornelia Havens of Mississippi. This book is based on a manuscript by Ellis, son Frank West Ellis. In 1979, when Frank Ellis was 87 and in failing health, his nephew Wesley Crosby Ellis undertook to help him publish the biography of Gabriel, adding a detailed geneaology of Gabriel's descendants. The book includes information on such allied families.
