1881. Brown cloth boards quarter bound in leather with leather corners. Gilt decorations and lettering. Front and back cover are detached with the marbleized endpapers up to title page. Marbled endpapers. Both boards are detached as well as the endpapers, up to the title page. There are large chips of leather missing on the spine. Corners are worn and bumped. Some foxing and small stains but it is not heavy and throughout. Previous owner's name and date written on endpapers. Light stains and pages lightly yellowed. Pages from 469 to 474 are heavily chipped and torn (2 1/2" tear). Pages 469, 475, 476 are missing and appear that they were not bound in the book. Page 471-472 has a hole in it with some missing text. Overall clean and binding is tight. Tissue guard is in place by frontis.
