Original watercolour, 160 x 220 mm. to borders. Showing the vessel in full display. Corneck [1827 - 1877] was appointed midshipman to the ‘Caledonia’ in October 1841, so this would have been drawn when he was only 14. The presentation inscription below reads “This trifling momento is drawn and presented to Miss Bonnell by Lieut Corneck R.N. with his kindest regards and esteem with a request that she will only allow it a place in her portfolio.” Corneck was appointed Lieutenant in 1848, and Commander in 1857.
