London International Exhibition 1862.

Silk and machine embroidered Royal coat of arms to celebrate the London International Exhibition of 1862. 200 x 135 mm. This item may have at some time been mounted and will bear traces on the reverse of adhesive or removal of mounts. The Exhibition took place in specially constructed iron framed brick buildings on a site now occupied by the Natural History Museum paid for by profits from the Great Exhibition. The Queen did not attend, being in mourning for Prince Albert who had died in December of the previous year.
