Folio, 4 pages, 330 x 200 mm. Manuscript to first two pages only; address and postal stamp [Bridgewater Nov. 11th 1833] to last page. A long appeal to the magistrates at Somerton regarding the non-payment of a turnpike toll to Bennet, gate-keeper. King apologises from his absence to the summons to take place on the 13th as he is away on business. He in effect offers a counter summons to Bennet who he accuses of improperly carrying out his functions, refusing to give a ticket and using “severe, vicious and abusive language” and detaining him on three separate occasions.
