Single sheet, 210 x 290 mm. the drawings flipped on each side, rather than the same way round, unsigned. In 1984, Gordon “Goatie” Smith, Mervyn Peake’s longest and best friend, published his book ‘Mervyn Peake, a personal memoir’ which contained many illustrations from his collection. Those illustrations and some others were sold through Sothebys in 1986. Just recently though, a number of other original drawings and paintings from Gordon Smith’s collection have surfaced and I can offer a few of them; this is one.
