Etching, 165 x 235 mm. Showing a pugilistic encounter between a young fishwife of Billingsgate, London, and a Frenchman; the former, with superior strength and skill, will conquer. A slightly tamer version of a satirical cartoon of c. 1770 which showed the Frenchman, lacking the seat of his trousers, defecating in fear. Presumably resurrected to display anti-French sentiment during the Napoleonic Wars.
