Broadside, 230 x 335 mm. A rare broadside ballad printed in six columns with a woodcut portrait of Jane Shore. Jane Shore [Elizabeth Lambert, c.1445 - c.1527] was one of the many mistresses of Edward IV, but became notorious, being accused of conspiracy by the future Richard III. She was obliged to do public penance dressed in her shift and carrying a taper before being imprisoned in Ludgate Prison. She later married Thomas Lynom and passed the rest of her life in bourgeois respectability. It is, of course, for her apparent wantonness that she is most remembered and recorded in this, one of several accounts of her life.
