2 issues, Bilfolium, 310 x 190 mm. 6 pages and 4 pages. Reports, mostly from General Lord William Cathcart, ambassador and military commissioner to Russia, regarding the disastrous Russian campaign by Napoleon which culminated in his capture of Moscow only to find it deserted and in flames. His retreat in a savage winter, and the constant harrying by Cossacks and partisans, led to a multitude of deaths by starvation and cold and the capture of a great part of his army. According to the figures here recorded, a total of 41 generals, 1,298 officers and 167,510 non-commissioned officers and soldiers were captured by the Russians; many of these subsequently died of starvation and disease. Out of an original 650,000 men, only 110,000 half starved and frostbitten men made it back to France.
