A collection of Spanish picaresque novels in a handsome French language edition in the series by the Bibliothque de Pliade. The stories include the anonymously-written "The Life of Lazarus of Tormes and His Fortunes and Adversities". Also included are Mateo Aleman's "The Life of de Guzman d'Alfarache" and Francisco de Quevedo's "The Life of the Adventurer Don Pablos de Sgovie". With introduction, chronology, bibliography by M. Molho; rendered into French from the Spanish by M. Molho and J. F. Reille, who also supply notes and a glossary. --- In pebbled brown leather covers with gilt-stamped spine titling and gilt horizontal spine rules. Each volume with two sewn-in red satin ribbon bookmarks, text printed on very thin leaves, dark grey topstain, with front and rear wrapper panels and flaps in clear mylar, as issued. --- An excellent copy: bright, unmarked and tightly bound and lacking damages worthy of mention.
