Concerned with the love life of the author's Nina Leeds character, the controversial play was banned in many smaller cities after it appeared; but was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for drama. --- In blue-green cloth-covered boards with wave imagery to cover and endpapers, author facsimile signature to cover in gilt, faded spine titling and black topstain. Volume lacks the dust jacket. --- With a one-inch closed tear to cloth at head of spine, which has darkened, prior owner's bookplate affixed to front paste-down, else a tightly-bound, sturdy copy.
