A 1947 reprint of the 1907 issuance. An Everyman's Library copy of the sixth novel by Charles Dickens (1812-1870), first published serially in 1843. "Martin Chuzzlewit" did not achieve the high level of popularity of some of Mr. Dickens's other works, resulting in financial difficulty for Dickens. As a result, he wrote his famous "A Christmas Carol" as a means of earning additional money. Includes an introduction by G. K. Chesterton. Everyman's Library #241, an entry in EL's Fiction series. --- In Everyman's Library binding style 3 with full carmine cloth and gilt-stamped spine titling; blindstamped Eric Ravilious-designed 'shell' to cover and brown topstain.
