An undated but probable 1926 first Everyman's Library edition offering 434 letters by the noted English letter-writer and novelist Horace Walpole (1717-97). The letters have been organized, and with an introduction and notes by William Hadley. Everyman's Library catalog no. 775, in their Biography series, edited by Ernest Rhys. --- In 'Shield Era' curved back binding style 2, full pale blue ribbed cloth-covered boards with gilt-stamped Reginald Knowles-designed spine titling & decorations, blindstamped J. M. Dent vignette to front cover, with black topstain and fancy Knowles woodcut art at title page, frontis and endpapers. Volume wrapped in dust jacket with Knowles-designed Biography device to cover, his revised EL lighthouse design to spine. --- An excellent copy: tightly-bound and unmarked but with a hint of yellowing to spine.
