Translated from the French by Abigail Israel, with illustrations by Bernard Fuchs and with a special introductory note by the author. Issued as part of the publisher's First Edition Society series, published prior to the Delacorte Press trade edition. One of an unspecified number in this limited edition. --- Bound in full burgundy bonded leather covers with four raised bands on spine. Text presented in quality papers. Spine titling, elaborate decorations to covers and spine, and textblock edges all in bright gilt. Peach silk moire endpapers, with matching sewn-in satin ribbon placemarker.
