A 1963 reprint of a work which first appeared in an Everyman's Library edition in 1953. Geoffrey Chaucer's longest poem appeared in the 14th century. It is the tragic tale of two lovers, derived from earlier poems by Giovanni Boccaccio. Originally written in Middle English, this edition has been prepared by John Warrington with his brief introduction, footnotes and with slightly modernized spelling.
