The author was an intellectual who wrote on a wide variety of subjects. Includes an introduction by Halliday Sutherland. Entry 92 in the Everyman's Library theology & philosophy series. --- Full plum cloth-covered boards with orange topstain. In blue dust jacket with 'Everyman's Library' surrounded by scrollwork on front panel. --- The dust jacket is wrapped in a clear plastic wrapper, which has been permanently attached to the book using lots of tape which has yellowed; yellow tape residue has been left on endpapers. Also with prior owner's signature to title page and missing half title.
