Includes a tissue-guarded engraved frontis portrait of Caesar and a 25 cm wide x 19 cm tall folded map of Gallia, bound at rear of the volume. Froude (1818-1894) was a sometimes-controversial English historian whose many works of history and other writings were much admired in his time. --- In full blue cloth-covered boards with spine titling in gilt, TEG (top edge gilt).
