An undated edition of the famous re-telling of Shakespeare's principal plays. Brother and sister, Charles and Mary Lamb first published their book in 1807 in order to make Shakespeare's plays familiar to children. Charles wrote the tragedies, and Mary wrote the comedies. The stories are accompanied by 80 engraved black & white illustrations. Possibly published c.1890s-1910s. --- In full olive cloth-covered boards with illustrations & titling to cover & spine in red and black, spine titling on gilt block. --- A Fair-only copy, with conspicuous loosening to binding, but holding. A child has 'colored' many of the illustrations in the first half of the book (usually staying within the lines); crown of spine is missing and front cover has partially detached. This book has obvious damages and is priced accordingly.; Small Octavo - 7-1/2 to 8 in. tall; [10], 11-400 pages
