This attractive, hefty reprint edition is illustrated with 8 full-page color plates and in black & white at chapter heads by Steven Spurrier. Includes an introduction by John T. Winterich. Sandglass leaflet laid in (NY #X:18). --- In full grey cloth-covered boards w/maroon decorations on covers & spine, gilt title oval on spine and maroon topstain. Possibly published c.1940s-1950s, though 1940 date appears in book. In maroon paper-covered slipcase. --- A loosened front hinge has been repaired on this item. With yellowing to spine, otherwise clean, unmarked and tightly-bound. Slipcase with scratches, fingerprints and minor sunning, otherwise structurally sound.
