With an introduction by Thomas Seccombe, author's preface, and a lengthy index. Everyman's Library #301, an entry in EL's History series. --- Bound in Everyman's Library binding style 3 in full dark red cloth and gilt-stamped spine titling; blindstamped Eric Ravilious-designed 'shell' to cover and brown topstain. Grey jacket features Ravilious 'knot' design to cover. --- With whitish splotches of discoloration to cloth and inked gift inscription to front free endpaper, else a well-preserved, otherwise unmarked copy. Rather brittle jacket with a couple of sizeable open tears to spine & front panel, darkened spine and other small chips but remaining mostly intact and protected in new removable mylar wrapper.; 16mo - 6 to 7 in. tall; xl, 648 pages
