The story revolves around Reynard, a crafty red fox with human characteristics, who deceives other animals. Offered in a handsome illustrated reprint edition in slipcase in a translation from the German by Thomas James Arnold, with introduction by Edward Lazare and engraved woodcut illustrations by Fritz Eichenberg. Sandglass leaflet not present. --- Bound in yellow paper-covered boards with patterned Eichenberg illustrations, and backed in orange cloth with dark red spine titling. All textblock edges stained orange. Volume housed in tan paper-covered slipcase. --- A clean, tightly-bound copy but with prior owner's bookplate affixed to front paste-down and a little sunning to spine, otherwise lacking noticeable damages. Fair-only slipcase with conspicuous dampstains and a tear along one corner, else able to protect the book.
