This is the story of the author's uneducated Bigger Thomas character, an African-American youth who accidentally kills a white woman. Afterwards, he panics and flees into the streets and rooftops of Chicago. Includes an introduction by Dorothy Canfield Fisher. Volume wrapped in jacket with E. McKnight Kauffer illustration of Bigger on his knees.
