The founding editor of Poetry Northwest, she was involved in many literary and artistic organizations throughout her life. In addition to her work as a poet, she wrote essays and held various positions in arts organizations. Kizer's poetry earned her numerous awards, including the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1985 for her collection "Yin". Her first marriage was to Charles Stimson Bullit, an attorney from a wealthy and influential Seattle family. This magazine from the Northwest collection of Frank S.
