Originally published in the Humboldt Times, beginning on April 26, 1856 and subsequently reprinted from the Times by Mr. Wood's sons in a paper covered pamphlet. Only a few copies were issued in this form and very few of them are still extant. The Society of California Pioneers reprinted this pamphlet line for line and page for page, employing the same old newspaper type used in the original pamphlet, in their Quarterly of March 1932.
