Booklet has its faults, but is not commonly seen and is tightly bound and complete. The English-Speaking Union began in London in 1918, thanks to the efforts of journalist, Sir Evelyn Wrench. The goal, as stated on the top front banner of the brochure is "To draw together in the bond of comradeship the English-speaking peoples of the world." The organization continues today, both in the U.S. and Britain as an educational charity. In 1918 there were 774 members, but by the time this brochure came out there were 11,974. Headquarters were the Dartmouth House at 37 Charles Street, Berkely Square, London and very beautifully appointed inside and out. The drawings inside show the luxury -- the library, dining rooms, even bedrooms with private baths. The brochure measures 7"x10" and is printed on a lovely, heavy paper. There are 20 pages including 14 black and white photographs and a map inside the front cover. Faults include a light crease down the center from having been folded, though I was able to flatten it in the book press. There is also soiling to the cover, a few stains to outer edge at front, some yellowing to back, and a few small tears on bottom edge of cover.
