This is small collection of Catholic religious items given to a child named Willie Monroe from Mamma Lee on the occasion of his First Communion which took place on Pentecost Sunday May 29, 1898. The items were grouped together in a beat-up envelope, but the contents are absolutely pristine. The information stated was found on the back of the holy card. Other items include: two felt ovals with paper labels reading St. Gerard Patron of Mothers and Apostleship of Prayer in League with the Sacred Heart; a small medal showing Mary, the Mother of Jesus, on a blue ribbon attached to a paper doily; and the best -- a felt "book" showing the images of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and St. Simon Stock, likely hand-stitched and decorated with a bow at the bottom and another with a satin heart at the top. Very sweet.
