This is one of those cascading postcard mailers, but the point of this one is not so much the views as the message. All but two pictures (plus reverse views) are gone -- likely the victims of the kids this WWI soldier sent to his family in Ulrichsville, Ohio. His name is Lt. Ernest C. Fox and he was on his way by train to Camp Sheridan, Montgomery, Alabama. The card was sent to his wife and children with this message: "Sept. 17, 1917, Dear Wife and Family, We arrived this far OK. Talk about colored folks, why that is about all one sees here. We have 16 cars on this train now. 498 men and 14 officers. Most of the country so far is just about like home. We have not had our breakfast yet. It is surely nice traveling on the standard Pullman. Will write you when we get to Montgomery, Alabama which will be about tomorrow morning, as we are late because of a heavy train. Love to all, Father."
