Here we have a very hard to find music magazine which may have been The Etude of its day. Like most 19th century magazines it's printed on lightweight paper and has dense pages featuring many short articles and comments on each page. There's also music at the back with score and lyrics -- in this instance mostly it's Christmas songs. Also, includes advertising. What's interesting is that it hails from Cincinnati, Ohio, which at the time of publication was an important publishing hub. The magazine is very nice with just the occasional spot of foxing -- one at bottom front edge of cover and one on a page. There are also two tears at open side of back cover one of which affects half the pages, but I have repaired all with almost invisible archival tape that does not brown and does not glare. Contents include a Christmas short story, and a poem by Walt Whitmas called The Dead Tenor. Article topics include music in England, vocal weakness, the concert tour, the dry goods music trade, music in Boston and New York and much more. Magazines measures 9-1//2" x 12".
