I thought when I bought a couple of these magazines that the McCleary Sanitarium in Excelsior Springs, Missouri was for TB patients, but alas it was not. Dr. A.S. McCleary founded the sanitarium in 1901 for people with gastro-intestinal problems. His specialty though was curing hemorrhoids without surgery and his well advertised promise that if he failed to do so patients didn't have to pay. Surprisingly, the sanitarium stayed open until 1974. The magazine was sent to former patients and perspective ones and is actually rather interesting, especially if you have family members who worked or stayed there. There are many names in the past patient Honor Roll, as well as in the articles. This issue's stories include how to have a beautiful complexion, child patients at McCleary, sanitarium life, and patient hobbies. MANY names. Magazine measures 9" x 12-1/4" and has 23 pages. The postcard of McCleary Sanitarium is linen and unused. Very crisp and nice and in brand new protective sleeve.
