This is a pretty little gift book, perfect to have on hand as an antidote to the roars of the savage beast which besets us all from time to time. How nice to check in with Emerson and hear something like this: "Be a gift and benediction. Shine with real light and not with the reflection of gifts." The book is a diminutive 4"x6" with twelve essays in 307 pages. The essays include: History, Self-Reliance, Compensation, Spiritual Laws, Love, Friendship, Prudence, Heroism, The Over-Soul, Circles, Intellect, and Art. The book is clean and tightly bound with no names or writing. The face board is very attractive with its red and gilt design.The only fault is some rubbing at center of diamond shape with a loss of some gilt.
