This is a remarkably sharp photo with great contrast. The only reason I know that it was a warm day in 1909 Taylorsville,Indiana is the pencilled date and place on the back. There is much here to tell you such things as the homeowner's appreciation of decorative pots of flowers and their liking of rocking chairs. Even the little boy is rocking on a rocking horse. But the thing I noticed first was the young man off to the left of the porch. If you look at the young lady in the white dress ON the porch you can see she is not pleased with him. He's not even looking at her, nor is he engaging with the whole group. The photo was mounted on the gray board used to mount ohotographs at the turn of the century, but there is evidence here that someone cut it down to just the photo. The two lower corners lost the top layer of paper also, so to keep it from deteriorating I repaired it with grey art paper (see second photo). The image measures 7-3/4" x 9-3/4".
