Marsden Hartley 1908-1942 The Ione and Hudson D. Walker Collection

Hartley has been delighting collectors for decades before this 1984 exhibition of paintings, drawings and lithographs. This catalog is quite nice and has a LOT of biographical information about Hartley which is surprisingly candid. The works are described carefully and include stories and comments by others such as Gertrude Stein. The works are in both color and black and white on 56 pages. The catalog measures 8-1/2" x 11" and is clean and tightly bound with no names or writing. The exhibition began January 10 - March 2, 1984 at Florida International University. Ten more exhibits followed, the last of which was at Madison Art Center, Madison, Wisconsin in November 22, 1985.
