The Songs of Bilitis, Translated from the Greek

Full black cloth with lavender title box to front cover, gilt lettering to spine, illustrated endpapers, signed by Willy Pogany at limitation page. Spine lettering dulled & partially rubbed; slipcase has short tears to paper covering & lavender coloring faded, but structurally intact; the book itself is quite nice. Pierre Louys' "translations" of ancient Greek lesbian erotic poetry. Hard to believe Louys really intended for the book to be a forgery, but he at least let it ride and it fooled people for many years. This is the preferred edition with the Pogany illustrations. Pogany's Art Deco erotica is playful.
