Leather-bound Hardcover with bonus related book by the same author, Signed by the Author First Edition 1950 Collins London 384 pages. Green leather with gilt titles and accents - corners lightly bumped with a touch of wear. Front panel has a blemish and the spine is sun-faded. Authors signature at bottom of half-title page. Battalions of The Black Watch took part in almost every theater and nearly every principal campaign of World War II. This history examines the activities of the Regiment in France, 1939-40; of The Highland Division in North Africa and Sicily, and in North-west Europe; of the Sixth Battalion in the Mediterranean, 1939-45; of the Second Battalion in the Middle East, 1939-42 and most famously in India and Burma; and of prisoners, individuals and Allied Regiments. The author was very well chosen to write this history since he himself fought with a Battalion of The Black Watch in North Africa, and made his name leading a Brigade in the most spectacular of all the Regiment's adventures, that of the Chindits in Burma in 1945. 23 maps. Handsome signed copy and scarce. Also included is The Black Watch, A Short History by Bernard Fergusson (Same Author) - Small Softcover, Stated Revised Edition 1985 Woods Of Perth 138 pages. Very Good, in blue wraps with black titles. Has a shelf lean. Two related tiles by the same author for one price.LOC FB-03
