Hardcover with scarce DJ, 1912 Saalfield Publishing 269 pages. Very Good, in a VG DJ. Just a touch of shelf/edge wear to red cloth boards with black titles and borders - corners sharp. Front board has two small bubbles at the top edge. Moderate shelf/edge wear and a few small chips to original DJ - now in mylar. Evocative color DJ shows football player running with the ball in the old style leather helmet with a biplane in the distance. Binding solid. No previous owner markings - all pages are clean, unmarked and starting to tan. they are not brittle. (Saalfield used cheap paper) Howard Roger Garis (April 25, 1873 November 6, 1962) was an American author, best known for a series of books that featured the character of Uncle Wiggily Longears, an engaging elderly rabbit. Many of his books were illustrated by Lansing Campbell. Garis and his wife, Lilian Garis, were possibly the most prolific children's authors of the early 20th century. He also did over 18 other series books for young adults of which Dick Hamilton is one. This title is the 4th in the series. Handsome vintage copy in the original DJ. LOC SSS-09
