H.P. Lovecraft is on the Bureau of Critics, and he has contributed more than a page of critique on the amateur poetry printed in journals submitted. "It would be unjust to judge amateur verse by the rigorous standards of the academic literary world, yet it would equally wrong to suspend all truly artistic standards. While the amateur poet need not be expected to produce work fit for publication in "Harpers" or the "Saturday Review," it is certainly not too much to expect him to strive in the right rather than in the wrong direction. . . " I leave it to your imagination to ponder in which direction HPL's lecture is going, as he strives to define for the amateur, what real poetry is. Issue is 12 pages in length. A near fine copy. From the Hyman Bradofsky collection. Verified, 2023
