USGS Bulletin 936-C. Paper wraps, pages somewhat yellowed. Ex-libris Paul C. Bateman, as his name is handwritten on upper front cover. Paul Bateman was a geologist with the U.S. Geological Survey and was a prolific author, with many of his publications having to do with mineral deposits, granites and the Sierra Nevadas of California. He is probably best know for "Economic Geology of the Bishop Tungsten District , California". An interesting report on a massive topaz deposit, and its potential use as a substitute for kyanite as a refractory material. Also discusses gold and topaz placer deposits in the same area. 78 pages, includes 5 map plates (one in map pocket pasted to rear inside cover), 1 figure (map) and 3 tables.
