1911 MONOGRAPH ON FOSSIL BRYOZOA--THE LAST MAJOR PHYLUM TO APPEAR IN THE FOSSIL RECORD--WITH HUNDREDS OF ILLUSTRATIONS. 9 1/2 inches hardcover, green cloth binding, printed paper title label to spine, institutional library bookplate to front paste-down, small handstamp to title page, xxi, 382 pp, 226 illustrations in text, folding map, 12 plates. Two 1/8 inch light stains top of cover, no external library marks, text and plates unmarked, very good. RAY S. BASSLER (1878 - 1961) earned his bachelor's degree in 1902 from the University of Cincinnati, and received master's degree in 1903 and Ph.D. in 1905 from George Washington University, where he remained on the faculty for 44 years. From 1910 to 1922 he was working as a curator for the Division of Paleontology and for the Division of Stratigraphic Paleontology from 1923 to 1928 at the United States National Museum. By 1929 he was appointed as a head curator of the Department of Geology.
