Signed by the illustrator John Austen on the colophon, #486/1500. The slipcase is tearing on the edges, edges worn, pattern worn in places. it remains solid. Dust jackets are darkened on the spines, a little foxed. The boards are covered with same paper as slipcase, rubbed just a tad, green cloth spines a little crunched head/tail. Paper edges foxed. The novel, first published in 1908, deals with the lives of two very different sisters, Constance and Sophia Baines, following their stories from their youth, working in their mother's draper's shop, into old age. All orders packed with care, dust jackets protected by Brodart sleeve, independent bookseller since 2011
