#335/1500 printed, signed on the colophon of the French edition by artist Andre Derain. Two volumes: The French edition is bound in paper wraps, gouache drawings by Andre Derain are executed as Pochoir prints; English version, translated by Lord Alfred Douglas, illustrations by Aubrey Beardsley created for the first edition, bound in red cloth. Slipcase is quite sunned with edges worn, spine text barely present. Red cloth boards on English volume are sunned on the spine, a little rubbed on extremities. Foxed endpapers with an occasional light touch of foxing on the interior. Paperback volume has original glassine cover, torn, chipped, yellowed. Black paper wraps have bends on front and rear, foxed endpapers, prints have caused offset on opposing pages. A remarkable artistic and literary achievement.
