An exceptionally nice copy. Book itself is in fine condition -- clean as a whistle inside and out. Inscribed and signed by author on title page thus: "For ----- with best wishes from Joan Blos, 9/15/87" Dustjacket is likewise very clean and paper retains its crispness. Has not been price-clipped and is most handsome in brand new mylar. Retains Newbery Award seal at front. Only fault is a small bit of rubbing at front near top and bottom of spine. This book is a multi-award winner. Not only did it claim the 1980 Newbery, the highest honor awarded a children's author, but also won the American Book Award and was an American Library Association Notable. A slim, but satisfiying, novel told in journal form of a young girl's life on the farm in early America. It offers much insight into the activities of those days, but also shows how a single year can bring so much change and, and at the same time, lessons and growth. 145 pages.
