Book is very clean and attractive and has not been price-clipped and has no names or writing. The gold medallion on the front cover is to celebrate the Charles W. Follett Award which was won by the author for this book. The book has nice art rendered in red against the grey cover and the top edge of the book is inked pink as per design. The colorful dustjacket is very good with just a few tiny tears, a little rubbing to top and bottom of jacket spine, and a small bit of wear to the corners, again to the dustjacket. This is a story of a Jewish family living in the tenements of the lower East Side of Manhattan. I remember this book well from chilhdhood -and never forgot the five little girls and their rich Jewish culture. To this day I remember the various Jewish holidays and what they're for and how they are celebrated. This is the first book of what would become a series. Book measures 8" x 9-1/2" and has189 pages which are illustrated with drawings throughout. Not often seen.
