This item was created by the St. Regis Paper Company as a Bicentennial keepsake. The previous owner kept it beautifully -- everything is bright and crisp. The first photo shows the wooden clamshell box covered with a linen-like fabric. Inside are nine booklets -- one of which bears the name on the box cover, plus these: Ben Franklin and the Colonial Printing Industry; Propaganda for the American Revolution; William Penn and American Cities; Equal Rights and Democracy; Medicine in America; Selling the West; Newspapers and Public Opinion; the Growth Business; and Magazine Journalism and the American Lifestyle. Also included is a fold-out titled The Common Press; A Brief History Description & Instructions for Operation of the Original Printer, plus the print which is rolled and tied with a red ribbon, a color print titled the Unhappy Sufferers, whcih was sold by Paul Revere. At the bottom of the box there even more items -- a letter from William Penn; a large color folded map of California's Cold Regions, two handbills, a tri-fold about advertising and merchandising in the early days of mass distribution , and a fold-out poster advertising Henry & Johnson Linament. Altogether a lovely thing. Very giftable. [ SPC ED RM ]
