"In the good old days, kitchens were charming, cheery, cozy spots, where the house cat warmed erself lazily under the stove, where gay geraniums bloomed on the window ledge, and Mother busied herself the whole day through with culinary mysteries of delicious odor and still more rapturous flavor." So begins this charming vintage Canadian cookbook on page 3. It goes on to explain how modern homes are designed around the kitchen and that "tucked away in the pantry is the greatest boon of all, Nestle's Evaporated Milk - no irritating going after the milk, no irritating waits on cold winter mornings, no finding it soured in summer, no worry about milk strikes." - pages 3-4. The balance of the book consists of recipes which make use of this innovative product. 32 pages. Several nice colour illustrations. Unmarked with very heavy wear and soiling. Coverfold mostly open. Covers almost loose. A rare surviving example. 17 x 13 cm. Driver O604.1
