Black paper covers with gilt lettering and blind-stamped Art Deco styling. Rubbing wear to the rear cover. Previous owner name on the first page. The endpapers are partially unglued from the covers. The rest of the book is sound. Includes local business ads and a section for autographs, though students also signed by their pictures. The verso of the title page includes photos of Pope Pius XI, 1922-1939, and Pope Pius XII, 1939-. Following the next page is a printed letter from the Bishop of Galveston, the Most Reverend Christopher E. Byrne, D.D., LL.D., accompanied by his full page photo on the facing page. The volume number indicates this is the first yearbook, or at least the first yearbook under the Veritas title. Founded in 1905, the Catholic girls' school opened its doors in 1906 and offered 12 years of instruction and boarding until 1939, when boarding was discontinued. That is the same year that this first yearbook was published. In 1954, the Academy began offering instruction only for grades 9-12. OCLC locates no institutional copies of this first yearbook, or any earlier copies, and only a handful of later yearbooks are found in the trade online.
