Paper and cloth-covered boards, toned around the edges. Inscribed on the front endpaper by the editor: "With love from your 13th child, C. Richard King, 1979." 80 pages, illustrated with black and white photographs. Marion Taylor Brown, of Dallas, visited Fort Sill in the Indian Territory (Oklahoma) from November 1886 to February 1887, accompanying a friend who was visiting her mother there. She wrote numerous letters home during that time, detailing social activities and an interview with Comanche Chief Quanah Parker. Marion was the daughter of historian and journalist, John Henry Brown. Twenty-seven of her letters during this period have been preserved in the John Henry Brown Collection of the University of Texas Archives.
