[solid copy, light wear at edges and extremities, gilt spine lettering a bit rubbed, one-time owner's signature on ffep; jacket a bit soiled, moderate edgewear, minor paper loss at top corners of spine, short closed tears at bottom spine corners, tiny puncture-tear in middle of spine (no loss of spine text)]. "The author here answers the all-important question of what it is that a woman wants -- proves it, too, in a way that only a woman who understands women could. . A vitally interesting story as to just where a woman's place really is." This was the first of this author's four novels, all published in the 1920s; she had an brief brush with Hollywood when her next book, "The Valley of Content," was filmed (under the considerably sexier title PLEASURE MAD) in 1923; she also appeared on-screen in a minor role in the 1927 film YOUR WIFE AND MINE. Her Los Angeles Times obituary stated that she had also written "five plays and scores of motion picture scenarios," but I've found no evidence for the latter claim.
